Our Mission

The Good Neighbor Project is a unique initiative that aims to foster understanding, support, and collaboration between Native American tribes/tribal elders and institutional Christians. We seek to address historical misunderstandings and injustices by fostering dialogue and learning that is grounded in respect and appreciation for diverse cultural experiences and perspectives.

Our Goals

  1. Establish supportive relationships
    • Building and nurturing respectful and supportive relationships with Native American tribes and their elders
  2. Encourage cultural celebration & appreciation
    • Promoting an appreciation for Native American cultures, traditions, and histories, and encouraging celebrations that honor these cultures
  3. Educate dominant culture Christians
    • Providing education to dominant culture Christians about the experiences, challenges, and perspectives of historically colonized communities, with a focus on Native Americans
  4. Create a “third space”
    • Offering a neutral, inclusive environment where different cultures can come together to learn from one another, build relationships, and work towards mutual understanding and respect
